Konichiwa! I will be traveling to Japan as a Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholar to study its educational system and culture from October 1-19, 2006. Feel free to post questions or comments. I will use this as a way to communicate with family, friends, colleagues, and students. I'll try to reply to as many as I can, when I can. The clock below shows you what time it is in Japan....Remember, Japan is 12 hours AHEAD of the United States! They are living in the future!

What a day.....

You will see that I have posted several items today. I could not put all of the pictures under one post - so I decided to break them in to categories. As you can see, I had a very busy day today. I am sitting in my room - very content! I have a few blisters, but what an incredible day. The sun was shining, few clouds in the sky, about 72 degrees. Last night was spent walking through horrible weather brought on by a typhoon. So - today was perfect!

So, as I sit and look out my window this evening this is what I see....

Thank you Kip Wright.....many of you do not know this, but Kip is the reason I am on this trip. I was not going to resubmit my application to Fulbright. I felt that there were too many other things going on (particularly the birth of a certain Thomas Elliott Wright). The day the packet was supposed to be postmarked, Kip got me out of bed at 6 am and made me get busy. He ran around town making copies, getting signatures, and finally mailing it off. It is because of his "sometimes irritating perserverence" that I am here today. So for that I love you Elliott Kipling Wright. It is because of you that I am truly having an experience of a lifetime!
