Konichiwa! I will be traveling to Japan as a Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholar to study its educational system and culture from October 1-19, 2006. Feel free to post questions or comments. I will use this as a way to communicate with family, friends, colleagues, and students. I'll try to reply to as many as I can, when I can. The clock below shows you what time it is in Japan....Remember, Japan is 12 hours AHEAD of the United States! They are living in the future!

I am in San Francisco!

Well, my journey has begun! I finally got to San Francisco after a one hour delay. The most exciting thing about the trip was identifying the other people on the plane that were headed to the same place I was. There were six of us on the plane. We got here - and I took a quick jaunt to the Golden Gate Bridge. Having never been to San Francisco - I really had to make the quick visit. It was amazing. I have attached some pictures for you to see. We sat through several meetings today and you can tell that everyone is already tired. We all have to be on a bus at 10:30 San Francisco time to head to the airport. I am looking forward to that 10 and a half hour airplane trip!!!!! I have gotten everything ready and my passport is ready to be stamped for the very first time....
Say your prayers - and post, post, post. And my sixth graders - BE GOOD!!!!!! Charlie, Thomas, and Kippers - I love y'all!!!! Hugs to everyone else - I am off to my adventure of a lifetime!

i'm so glad you got to see it! i have been to SF a handful of times now and every single time the golden gate bridge has been shrouded in fog. an auspicious beginning to your journey.

hey, kip- why don't you just put the puppies in the kitchen and put the baby naked in the backyard? that will solve the diaper problem. charlie can check on him every hour or so and bring him snacks.

now who says i'm not ready to be a parent...
