Konichiwa! I will be traveling to Japan as a Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholar to study its educational system and culture from October 1-19, 2006. Feel free to post questions or comments. I will use this as a way to communicate with family, friends, colleagues, and students. I'll try to reply to as many as I can, when I can. The clock below shows you what time it is in Japan....Remember, Japan is 12 hours AHEAD of the United States! They are living in the future!

Friday - October 6

I have not posted as much lately because it has been so busy! Yesterday was spent doing a little exploring. I actually got out and got on the subway. They have "pushers" in the subway. These are young gentlemen that are dressed in suits with white gloves. Their job is to push people in to the subway. They work hard to put as many people on the subway as possible. They are polite about it - but they do push you in. The subway here is amazing. Very clean and full of people! We also went to a place called Akasuka - it was wonderful and VERY Japanese. We had a lunch of Tempura and walked through a temple. I got my fortune and it was a very good fortune. It said my mariage and career were very good. The big treat - I have been able to drink my daily diet coke. It is a little sweeter - but it still hits the spot!
Have a great day!
Here are some pictures of my day!
